Loophole LaRue, SASS #51438
Today is the 93rd anniversary of the birth of Ted Williams, The Splendid Splinter, The Greatest Hitter Who Ever Lived. Williams retired (after 19 seasons with the Red Sox, 17 as an All Star) with a .344 batting average, 521 home runs, and a .482 on-base percentage. At his last at-bat, he drove one over the wall in Fenway Park. He was the only Major League player to play in four decades. Inducted into both the Baseball Hall of Fame and the International Sport Fishing Association Hall of Fame. Recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom. A Naval aviator in both WWII and Korea, Williams was John Glenn's wingman, and recipient of the Air Medal with two Gold Stars. What a life!
