2016 Colorado State Championship Match July 1-3, 2016

Why are the awards not at the range? Does everyone really want to take their vehicles loaded with guns and park in Ault? Im not saying Ault is that bad, but still. Parking issues, people with campers have to leave their campers at the range, just to go back to town. Maybe its just me, but I think it would have been better to keep it all at the range.

Home Range, you make some good points. I think the main reason many clubs hold awards and banquets at a facility in town is climate control. As many annual matches are in the summer, after being out in the hot outdoors much of day, folks like a cool place to sit down and enjoy a beverage, watch the awards, and have some food. Also for those who really get into the costuming, they pull out the really fancy Victorian outfits that might be too hot or too fancy to wear out in the elements.

main reason not to have the banquet at the range is that the weather ini tha afternoons at that time of year can be iffy at best.....yu really wanna risk making all the ladies mad by getting all their fine dresses all muddy?? keep in mind most of us have guns tuu.....:P

Preparations continue and entries continue to roll in! If at all possible please get your entry in the mail this week so that we'll have accurate numbers for the caterers.

Yesterday was another workday at the range and lots got done. Props repaired and painted, signs hung, and other things checked off the list.

Match Director GW Ryder says we are right on track to have the range in tip top shape and looking great to welcome all of our cowboy and cowgirl friends to the 2016 Colorado State Championship match - The Shootout at Pawnee Station!

25 days left until the fun starts!

Here are a couple of pictures of the quilt that will be drawn for at the 2016 Colorado State Championship match at Pawnee Station, it will fit a king or a queen. Proceeds go to the SASS Scholarship fund. Quilt made and donated by Calico Mary.

Even during the week things continue to get done in preparation for the match! Yesterday the livery was moved out of storage and set up, and today all the stage number signs were scraped, sanded, and got a fresh coat of finish! Still have lots of room for YOU!

YeeHaw! Time is getting near now!

At this point if you mail an entry it might not arrive before folks head out to camp at the range match week to make the final details come together. HOWEVER, it's not too late to sign up! Please drop match director GW Ryder an email with your alias, category, and how many banquet tickets you want, and you can turn in your form and pay when you get here! GW's email addy is on the entry form and or the match info flyer on the Pawnee Website.

For those that are coming, please keep in mind that the small towns in Northern Colorado take their speed limits VERY SERIOUSLY and so should we! I've heard heard tell that some towns use the revenue from speeding tickets to fund nearly their whole budget! So watch your speeds please!

Also for those coming out during the week during the day, be advised there is construction on hwy 85. There really is no good way around it for the most part, but it helps to know it's there so you can plan for a little delay.

I dream of having a house on wheels, it would be great to be able to hang out with folks all evening and then walk a few short steps to the bunkhouse. Maybe some day. For now it's the drive to and from town to the motel for me.

One week from right now folks will be shooting the wild bunch mini match, warm up stages and side matches!

Still time to sign up! Let me know or shoot GW Ryder an email so we can get you on a posse!

YeeHaw! Let's RIDE!

The ranch hands were back at it today and all the facades are set and stages are pretty much done. Just add the decorations thru the week and 160+ cowgirls and cowboys and then we'll be having fun!

HELP NEEDED! For those coming to side match day, it would be a big help if you could run a side match for an hour or two sometime during the day. Please drop GW Ryder a line if you can help out!

Still time to get in on the fun! Drop GW an email and let him know you're coming so he can get you put on a posse!

Is anyone else getting EXCITED???? I know I am, I have my ammo stacked up and ready to pack, got my irons cleaned, and my cowboy duds warshed and ready to go!

GIDDY UP, LET'S RIDE!
