Chili Ron
Howdy, and just a question, have you found any bearcats that folks sell and they don't know or care about the letter? And I guess I have one more: Do you find many with the correct boxes? I don't look much for these. I once thought I could collect Rugers. Then I saw a serious collector who let me see his collection. That was the end of my collecting. Now I buy, shoot sell trade whatever. Happy hunting. Best CR

And I guess I have one more: Do you find many with the correct boxes? Are they worth more than a regular bearcat? what makes them different? just asking. Some folks don't care about serial numbers at all. The alphabet guns are like most any other guns in that collectors prefer earlier production models and they make up the first 25K produced(not counting 1-999). Original boxes show up very seldom and I do not believe the boxes were marked in any way that would make them identifiable to a specific gun. I do not recall any characteristics that were peculiar to them, but the Bearcats changed over the years with different features being phased in WRT front sights, grips, ejector rods. Basically, however, all original Bearcats(not Super Bearcats) were pretty much the same. As to whether they are more valuable than another Bearcat produced shortly after them, I would say that condition is a lot more important that the year of production. Any specific value increase associated with alphabet guns is dependent upon finding the proper buyer. There are, however not a lot of them around.
