Trigger job for Remington Rolling block

Noah Cash

Recommended Posts

My better half has a Rem Rolling block in 40-70 SS with a trigger pull that is absolutely horrendous! There are 5 or 6 different models that have been built over the years, and I think this is the 5th Model, but what do I look for to be sure?

My understanding is that these things are a bit unique and its best to have someone who is familiar with them do a trigger job, Are they that difficult?? Any help or suggestions would be appreciated

Thanks

The biggest thing you can do is have a gunsmith change the trigger spring for a lighter one. I made mine out of piano wire or you can buy one here

Do not touch the sear or trigger until you do this. On my 3 this is all I needed to do. You can change the spring yourself it is that easy.

KB, William "Bill" Wescombe's website defines all the RB models ... http://www.rollingblockparts.com/

He also sells for 15 bucks a custom trigger spring kit to reduce trigger pull for the #1 & #5 large frame action models... http://www.rollingblockparts.com/accessories.html

KB, you would be best to call Bill Wescombe first. You posted the caliber is a 40-70 SS and original #1 & #5 Rolling Blocks were not chambered for this caliber only ... 12.17x42 mm rimfire, 12.17x44 mm rimfire and 12.17x44 mm rimmed centerfire Swedish and Norwegian cartridges, .43 Spanish (11.15x58mmR), .50-70, .45-70, and later in .22 caliber. Later models were produced in .30-06 Springfield, 7×57mm Mauser, and 8×50mmR Lebel. If your rifle is a replica - the kit may not be a drop in
