Abilene Slim SASS 81783
just finished an awesome book about the B of B called "Fighter Boys". Naturally I had to revisit the movie "Battle of Britain". Movie really holds up well after 46 years. One of the characters is Sgt. Pilot Andy (Ian McShane) who played Al Swearengen in Deadwood. Hard to believe it's the same guy. However, 35 years separates the roles. BTW, what happened to Ian McShane and Al Pacino's voices over the years? They've gone from "normal" to really deep and gravelly over the years. Straight up question -- age, smoking or what? Seems to add depth to their roles.
Bugs Bonney SASS # 10171
That movie always brings back memories. In 1968 I was stationed at RAF West Ruislip in the london suburbs near RAF Northolt where 303 squadron was based during the Battle of Britain. I went home on leave and married my Highschool sweetheart and brought her back to England with me. One morning we were laying in bed and the sound of a Merlin engine woke us. Looking out the bedroom window we watched a Spitfire and a Me 109 chase each other across the sky followed by a camera plane getting aerial shots for the movie. It was like being transported back in time 29 years. One of those life moments I'll never forget.
