My ongoing Marlin 1894 saga

Recommended Posts

JJJ,

If this particular rifle is associated with those PARTS which I modified for you and you have had to replace those parts, let me know and I will buy them from you, assuming nothing else was done to those parts.

At the owners request, I have worked on PARTS without having the rifle. And in 4 out of 5 of those situations, everything worked great. There have been a couple rifle owners who, although the rifle improved, weren't able to get total satisfaction out of those 'Parts Only' modifications.

Anyhow, ifn its something I may have done for you, let me know. Feel free to call me or PM me if ya want.

Thanks

..........Widder

The lever in 'Satan's Rifle' had a very different outline/profile than the new lever JJJ rec'd. :o

In fact, that lever in the rifle, was different from any lever I have ever seen.

I had JJJ 'barrow' the lever out of DJ's rifle and install it in Satan's Rifle, it ran just fine. ^_^

Widder-I really don't think it was any mod you did to the carrier. What I noticed, was how loose fitting the carrier was when installed from a 'thin/narrow tongue' that was where the pivot screw hole is located.

JJJ stated that with the new carrier, the fit was much closer with a minimum side to side play.

I must say, that the Marlin 94 parts I'm now see'n coming from Brownells. Are some of the very best I have ever seen. ;)

Marlin had some hickups with the move south and Remington take over.

Some of the rifles that left the factory were pure junk, and that is not a

hallmark of the old Marlin.

I have been led to believe that there was no love lost between the workers

from both company, but that is just rumor. I guess that makes me a rumor

monger. The latest Left The Factory Date on my virtual rifles is 2002.

They seem to be in good working order. Although I did have Silent Sam,

over in Wenatchee work it over and now it runs like a race horse.

The virtual 39AS runs a little gritty still, but it has come a long way.

Perhaps if I shot it more it would smooth out like the virtual 1894.

But who has that much ammunition.
