Dewey Cheatem, SASS #75620
Does anybody use Herco in 44 Mag or 12 Gauge for Cowboy Shooting. I have a bottle and need to use it up. I couldn't find load data in current guides but in older ones I could. I know we cant list load data but a PM would be appreciated. I just don't want to let it set if it can be used. Marauder SASS #13056
It is an excellent powder for standard and magnum loads in 44 Mag. But it is a little slow burning for cowboy. But for a nice 44 Mag load it is great! Not so good for 12 gauge as again, it is relatively slow. http://www.thehighroad.org/archive/index.php/t-589183.html http://mp-pistol.com/mp-reloading/39870-alliant-herco-powder-9mm.html
Three Foot Johnson
I had an old timer tell me a few years ago, "Anything Unique will do, Herco will do". Herco is a bit slower than Unique, but works well enough in .40 cal and up Cowboy loads - never tried it in shotshells.
Dewey Cheatem, SASS #75620
It's for my father in law to plink with. Most stuff I can find is for shot shell but more for heavy loads. Just need a starting point for the 44mag with a 200gr lead bullet. Just wanting to use it up really. Thanks for the advice. DC
Boothill Bandit, SASS# 48598
Herco works very well for me with Rem STS Hulls, 1-1/8 oz shot and an RXP-12 wad (12 Gauge). Boothill
Poncho Lasagna
I used Herco a lot in 1 oz. 20 ga. loads for sporting clays but I've never seen a recipe using it for 12 ga.
