Oklahoma state Wild Bunch Championship is in the books!

A big thank you to all responsible for hosting the Oklahoma state wild bunch championship! This was a real honest to gosh wild bunch match with targets and distances placed accordingly. This would be considered a shooters match featuring the star of the show the 1911 pistol in the caliber of 45 with support from the rifle and a whole bunch of really nice model 12's in attendance. All types of targets big,little,near,far,flying,falling and sometimes all on the same stage! Saturday lunch was good old fashioned cookout with Donna denton cooking up some great burgers and links. BAMM was well attended and some that had never shot BAMM but are now looking for rifles. Keeping the promise of taking BAMM where it had never bammed before a distant target was placed at an honest 500 yards and the BAMM shooters proceeded to wear it out! The team match consisted of two competitors drawn at random and was engineered so they had to shoot the same type of firearm in unison ending with poppers throwing blue rocks for a shotgun ending. After that the poppers with the pigeons were utilized again only the shotgun was exchanged for the 45 automatics! Great fun was had by all shooting clay pigeons in the air, a few did survive however so there should be a good stock for next year. One more game was tried shooting a 45acp hull with the pistol but goat neck Clem casually hit it on the first shot and ended that game. He also did the same thing with a 12 gauge hull at twice the distance. Wild bunch shooters can shoot and will shoot sunup sundown when given the opportunity. Hats off to the match director Paladenton, his crew and the Stillwater rifle and pistol club for putting on a great match. Make plans to attend this one next year, it's a good one. Dusty Boddams
