And sometimes, a local pard might want to sell his/her because they no longer use it. The older ones are SO easy to read and retrieve the split times from. I don't find them discounted when purchased new. I have been watching for a good deal on a timer for over a year. If one is out there I couldn't find it. You might save $20.00 off the cost of a new one IF you are really really lucky. I have actually seen used ones on E-bay sell for more than a new one would on sale. For the difference I would buy a new one, that way if you have issues it has a warranty..
