SGT. QUINCANNON, SASS #32999
Hello to All, I have a reference book, "A History of the Colt Revolver" by Haven and Belden, published in 1940. It mentions that a very few 1851 Navy revolvers were produced in .34 calibre, and are so marked. Does anyone here have any additional info on this small number of revolvers, or perhaps seen one? Thanks for your time. Regards, Sgt. Q.

Jackson Rose, SASS #45478
My only book on Colts says there was a 34 ring lever revolving rifle, no mention of a pistol.

Trailrider #896
I cannot find a reference to such, but it is entirely possible that the first of the M1851 barrels were rifled on the same tooling that produced the Patterson Colts.
Tom Bullweed
My guess is that someone measured the land diameter. The earliest Colts were .28, .31 and .34 caliber.
