Thank You For The Sage Advice

Thank you for all the sage advice you gave us regarding purchasing a house. I was able to talk Uno into hiring a real estate agent and he's really glad we did. {After much futile searching, he realized we needed more help than he thought.} We have just come to terms on our first house together and are set to close at the end of May.

Thanks again!!

Thanks guys. We're going to let folks younger and stronger than us handle all that. We're going to hire a company to load all the boxes and furniture into their truck and take it over to the new place, then unload it. We'll take it from there. We're getting too old for all this heavy lifting.

I can sure relate to that!

We built a new house 11 years ago. the contractor was a jerk and we wound up finishing the house ourselves. After several months of multihour days we got it to the point that we could move at any time. Miss Lorrie said she would like to take it slowly and move one room at a time. I agreed. A few days later I showed up at the coffee shop on a Saturday morning. I was asked what my plans for the day looked like. I innocently told some of my friends that I was going to move a few things to the new house. One guy offered to help and the help would be welcome so I told him to meet me at our old house at 10 am.

To make the story shorter: He showed up at 10 as did the people he had contacted. Six pickups with three big flat bed trailers. to make it better the wives came along with shipping tissue etc. At about 4:30 Miss Lorrie was standing in her new home with all of our possessions lying around her. She was dismayed at the turmoil, I was delighted it was done.

Sounds like a great group of friends.

We have the opposite problem. My landlord won't let me out of the lease so we're stuck in the rental house until mid August. We are slated to take possession of the new house at the end of May. That will give us time to sort through everything, donate things we no longer need and clean the rental in hopes of having my deposit returned. Additionally, the guest bedroom in the new house is painted a color that Uno objects to so we will have time to paint it before we move in.

I know what you mean. My brother and I used to get the call all the time when someone needed help moving. He worked delivering furniture for almost a decade, and I worked part of my way through college delivering furniture. Nowadays, the mileage is a little too high unless absolutely necessary.

Pink walls will clash with his blue reloading equipment? :)

LOL, No they're a deep lavender. Makes the room look really tiny. I'm going to paint them a nice pale blue. That room is much smaller than the "man cave" he wants in the basement. The guest bedroom is 12 X 12 and his man cave is 20 X 20. Sounds like a good trade off to me.
