Colt SAA Service

Anyone know a good gunsmith for a Colt Single Action Army. I have one that has some end shake and is not locking up quite right and want some one competent to take fix it.

It is a first generation 32-20 that has been refinished.

I am located in Collegeville, PA but am more than willing to ship the gun to a good smith.

Thanks John

Peacemaker Specialist is the best there is. Bob James is a really close second. Unless you want the gun specifically built for competition. Then go with Bob James first.

Whenever I have problems with one of my SAA's or a 1911, I take it to this big place in East Hartford, Connecticut called, "Colt."

To date, I have had one of the WW1 replica 1911's, a 2nd, and a 3rd generation SAA worked on. They provide excellent service, a quick turn around, usually within a couple of weeks, and sometimes, depending on what you need to have done, they charge you exactly nothing!

Granted, I live in New England, (the Boston area) so going down to the factory is not all that difficult for me. I'd suggest giving them a call and asking how you can ship the gun to them for service.

That hasn't been my experience with Colt at all. I sent them a brand new AR back in October to have a warranty covered repair done. They still have it and there's no end in sight. Quick turnaround? Hardly and the response to my questions about when I can expect my rifle back have been nonexistent. It's beyond absurd and I'm powerless to do anything about it. I guess at some point I'll have to take them to court. In my limited experience Colt customer service is the absolute worst of any business I've ever dealt with.

I used Roughneck Rod for my Colts in 45 Colt. He did an excellent job.

H. K, FYI Colt Firearms service and repair is in West Hartford, not East Hartford.

Well, let's see, when going south on I 84, you take Exit 45 (really!) to get to the plant. When travelling south, the plant is to the right of the highway. so.... Yeah, that would make it West, not East.

Oh well, nobody's perfect.

But I still like their products and have had good experience with their service. :)
