WTB Ruger Blackhawk grips. XR3

Recommended Posts

I recently picked up a New Model Blackhawk, but don't really like the grips. The brushed stainless finish calls out for a darker set.

If you have take offs in the dark gray silverwood, or something else, (a black polymer would look good, too) that you're willing to let go of for cheap, say $20 or so, let me know.

TIA.

How about a set off a New Vaquero , the black ones??

Rex :D

I'd like a black set. Unfortunately, they won't fit. The Blackhawk uses the XR3 frame. The NMV uses a different frame, along with the 50th anniversary Flattop. I don't know why, but they do. Thanks, though.

Howdy,

That's a really low figure for grips.

If you can find a little more of a budget one good way to get the right grips

is to ship your grip frames to Eagle Grips.

They can fit grips with no gaps anywhere.

I had gone in to their shop and they were good enuf to fit them while I waited.

YES, dark grips look terrific on stainless rugers.

Various wood grips can be lighter or darker and they might be able to find a

set of dark rosewood.

But you don't get world class grips for 20....

If you have odd shaped gripframe it might be time to get a specialist to help.

One other idea-call Ruger and see if they have some thing that might work.

Best

There's nothing wrong with the grips that came on the gun, but I thought I'd see if anybody had some take-offs they wanted to get rid of. My ultimate plan is to strip the finish off them and stain the wood with black leather dye.

I've seen a couple grip makers that offer ebony wood grips, or black buffalo horn, both real or polymer.

If I decide I can't get what I want on the cheap, I'll spend what I have to until I get it right.
