Friend decided he wants to sell this gun. Serial number indicates manufactured in 1893 and is caliber 44w (44-40). 24" Octogon barrell. There is a large nick on the magazine tube but does not affect the tube. Several small nicks on barrell. Crack on forarm. Chip on pistol grip. See all in photos. I took several so have link to photobucket. $950 $850 includes shipping to lower 48. First, "I'll take it", has it. P.M. me if you want to contact owner or for more info.

Go to photos below, link was bugged I guess.

OK, I just spent 1 1/2 hours going over it and a little cleaning. Here is my impression about this gun. First, it is 122 years old. Also the owner knows nothing about guns. I'll leave it at that, but a very nice person. He told me it has been around 5 years since he shot it and at that time it functioned as it should. Now for the barrell, there may be some pitting, but far more dirty debris is what I found. The riffling was very distinguishable. The bolt was good with the extractor having good spring to it. The magazine tube spring was a bit out of coil, workable, but more that likely original.

My thoughts on this gun is that it is well usable. But, it reminds me of the ole Buffalo hunter going to town. Boy, does he need a bath, and needs to change the water several times to get him clean. But ya know what, he is still one tough ####. Now, would I have this gun. Well, I just purchased a Codymatic and have not even shot it yet. (Dang Weather, but getting nice now) Also I am not set up for 44-40, the big problem. So, yes I would be talking to him and making a deal. I like original guns, have a few and shoot them. I believe this gun will be a real nice one but it needs TLC for a few days of scrubbing and cleaning up. The trigger pull is a little on the heavy side, I have no gauge so cannot tell you #'s. Not having shot it, I believe it is still one good Marlin. Now I am certain any buyer not satisfied after receiving it would get their money back after they pay shipping. I know I would.
