Painted Mohawk SASS 77785
Howdy As I sit out the last 2 days before flying home to Australia I have been reflecting on our 5 weeks holiday in the U.S.A. In relation to Cowboy Shooting I have one negative that I have experienced or saw happening in other posse's at every shoot [ 6 ] that I attended. Firstly let me say it does occur occasionally in Australia but is quickly jumped on. Why do some' To's & counters not do there jobs correctly !!!! The amount of times I saw a TO turn to the counters 'IMMEDIATELY' after the shooter had finished their stage & say ' there was an edge on a particular target or the shooter did whatever....& then I don't know how many times I observed counters working out between themselves what had happened etc before the fingers are raised. To tell you the truth it blew me out of the water how often I saw the above. What's so hard about a To 'WATCHING' the shooter & the counters independently taking care of the scoring/ penalty situation. I realise this is in the minority but is a blight on those that 'do it right' ..of which I saw many.
Marauder SASS #13056
This is discussed in the handbook and R.O. books. Yes, only the spotters can call the misses. But the books also mention that sometimes the R.O. has the best view and their ADVICE can be useful. But it is only advice and the spotters have the final say. Hope you had a great time! Most Wanted
How many of those T/O's had RO 1 or 2 pins? OLG From what I've seen and heard that has not been a guarantee for proper calls. Can't hurt but .....

Thankfully I've seen very few instances of TOs acting the way you describe. On the other hand, I've seen FAR too many counters do exactly as you described. When I'm a posse marshal I warn counters against doing that and I try to put a lid on it if/when I see it happen.
Dick Dastardly SASS #45219
The pard with the timer is supposed to watch the guns and the shooter for safety reasons. He shouldn't even be looking at the targets. DD-MDA
