Rye Miles #13621 Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 Sorry this is from the annoying "Blaze"…….. http://www.theblaze.com/stories/2015/02/04/ferguson-police-will-soon-have-a-less-lethal-option-when-responding-to-potentially-deadly-situations/
Clay Mosby Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 That is the most Rube Goldberg idea I've seen yet! Will it be accurate enough to hit the side of barn from Inside the barn? Will there be shrapnel flying everywhere from the "support structure"? And why bright orange? Oh, I know, it's so when the bad guy sees it they'll know it's "nonlethal" and might give them incentive to shoot first.
Cat Brules Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 A Mother should NOT have to live with the fear that her boy gonna get shot every time he rob a liquor store!!
Noz Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 I was taught in CCW class that the only time you drew your weapon was when you were in fear of your life being taken. When it came out it went off. Now they are telling the police in essence that they must apologize prior to shooting by using some sort of a gimmick? If a magazine of 9mm won't stop him why do you possibly think a broken rib from a ping pong ball would?
John Barleycorn, SASS #76982 Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 Whatever you do, don't double tap! Exactly! How do you "untrain" that?? Or "He shot my boy and didn't even wait to see if the orange ball worked!"
The Original Lumpy Gritz Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 Did anydangbody see that his hand went in front of the muzzle of a loaded handgun. This goez way past STUPID-- OLG
Cat Brules Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 Next: "He shot my boy with the orange ball before my boy even got a chance to touch him!"
Elk Creek LeMieux Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 Whatever you do, don't double tap! Exactly! How do you "untrain" that?? Kinda what I was thinking. You can't untrain things like that. Especially when fear is involved. And now you'll have a scared officer, that knows there's a good chance he can use the strongest tool he has without killing someone. So, this will make some officers more comfortable firing their weapon at someone. Leading to more deaths.
St. Louis Suomi SASS #31905 Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 Fire the first shot like you normally dol then add the ping pong ball and fire - there is no sequence on the bullets - this is not only a stupid gimmick - it is a life endangering fool hardy attempt at being politically correct. It endangers the officer and others who might be hurt by these two bit scum sucking dirt bags.
Charlie Harley, #14153 Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 I call total BS! The physics of that widget will still kill a person quite easily, and the aforementioned discussions show the risks this will pose to police officers.
Badger Mountain Charlie SASS #43172 Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 OH LORD, PLEASE, PLEASE, SEND US SOME INTELLIGENT LEADERSHIP!
Tyrel Cody Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 OH LORD, PLEASE, PLEASE, SEND US SOME INTELLIGENT LEADERSHIP! AMEN!
Calamity Kris Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 You have no idea how tired we are of hearing about the "bad LEO's" and poor innocent victims in the nightly news. I can't wait for something else to take it's place. P.S. They have been publicizing pictures of the looters on the evening news in an effort to get them identified. I like that idea.
Utah Bob #35998 Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 Christian Ellis, the owner of the company that manufacturers the equipment, admitted to the Post that no human being has ever been shot by the devices with which Ferguson police will soon be training. Nevertheless, Ellis is optimistic. Well as long as he's optimistic. It looks as if the Ferguson assistant chief is as incompetent as the Chief. I won't even opine about this less lethal system.
Rye Miles #13621 Posted February 5, 2015 Author Posted February 5, 2015 What about the police union?? I wonder where they're at on this?? Rye
Utah Bob #35998 Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 What about the police union?? I wonder where they're at on this?? Rye I don't wonder at all.
Clay Mosby Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 I call total BS! The physics of that widget will still kill a person quite easily, and the aforementioned discussions show the risks this will pose to police officers. When I watched the clip and saw the impact on the ballistic gel, my first thought was if you hit someone in the throat or head with that thing, it's still damn lethal!! Stupid, stupid idea, Typical feel good but useless in in real life idea from the pc crowd.
Dakota Rebel, SASS# 58412 Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 This is even dumber than "smart" guns that will only work when the user is wearing the magic ring.
Tyrel Cody Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 Who's gonna make sure the criminals are using those contraptions?
Colt McCloud, SASS #65003L Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 Agree with y'all totally! Don't forget to say "HOLD IT" like Bugs Bunny to the bad guy while you draw you gun, reach over, retrieve the cute orange ping pong ball and then install it on the front of your pistol and then acquire a sight picture! Maroons - all of em
Cypress Sun Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 Only way that will be effective is if they put 90 grains of black powder in it and an impact ignitor.......yeah, that'll work. Oh wait, that might somehow disable the poor criminal that had a bad childhood.
Ya Big Tree Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 Criminals will start carrying a ping pong paddle. Then what? Or imagine the law suit it you accidentally shot them in the jewels.
John Barleycorn, SASS #76982 Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 Have they not heard of a Taser?
Cat Brules Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 My vote is for the little "BANG!!" flag that pops out of the muzzle of the policeman's pistol. That, or some surplus Acme device from Wile E. Coyote's garage.
Rusty Chains Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 "Excuse me while I whip this out." Yep, that is really gonna work. I just some cop doesn't get stabbed by a perp with a concealed knife, while screwing around with that stupid thing, just because some administrator/politician doesn't have the stones to say no to stupidity.
Shorty Jack Hammer Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 Pardon me if I'm abrupt because after a long day/week of law enforcement I'm at home enjoying (the effects of) a few cold ones as my weekend starts, but thats the stupidest a** bu****it Ive seen all week.
