Winchester 1873...A Rebuild!

Recommended Posts

A few weeks ago I picked up an old 1873 Winchester that needed lots of love! This one was a real challenge but I think it came out pretty good!

Lots of pictures so I wrote an entire article for my web page

Enjoy!

Yes, I measured the dust cover on my Uberti and it is also too wide. I'm going to order a dovetail for a second model and attach it to the top of my receiver.

Those old guns can "talk". You just have to sit quietly in your rocking chair and occasionally lever it. Images will start to form in your mind and then you are off to dreamland.

Swift, that's a wonderful image! Thanks

I have an 1894 Take Down in 32 Special and it has six knife cuts in the wrist. I love to think this rifle was used by Texas Rangers and those are bad guys it dispatched....But most likely it was deer kills....or as my wife says, the number of times the previous owners wife let him go hunting!
