Rancho Roy
Yes, I ordered a barrel liner a few minutes ago. If I can't buy a reamer at a reasonable price, I'll just rent one from Reamerrentals.com I'll be sure to take lots of pictures and post it on my web site. Lefty Dude, SASS # 51223
Your 38-40 turned out very well indeed. Looking forward to the 44-40 re-line & chamber.
Springfield Slim SASS #24733
All reamers are not the same. I rented one to rechamber a couple of 44 special 72 Opentops, and it was cut a bit large with very little taper at the front. It works well to chamber most anything I put in them, but the fired brass is difficult to tell from my wife's 45 colt brass when sorting quickly. A friend of mine wanted to do the same thing, but bought a reamer from Brownells, and his chamber is very tight and won't chamber most of his loads. I measured them both, mine is a couple thou larger than the specs on the SAAMI website, and his is a thou or so under under. Something to look out for, measure first, then cut. Rancho Roy
One of the chamber reamer rental places offers three different size 44-40 readers. I will chamber cast my existing 44-40s before I decide which one to use.
