Trigger Mike Posted December 26, 2014 Posted December 26, 2014 When comparing a Colt 1911 some have High Profile sights with dots and some have novak sights with dots. Which one is taller? I have bad eyes and can no longer use regular sights with ease.
Jackson Rose, SASS #45478 Posted December 26, 2014 Posted December 26, 2014 My Novak sights are lower than most, but are taller than a GI issue 1911.
Paladin Gun For Hire Posted December 27, 2014 Posted December 27, 2014 Mike, I just picked up a Para, Expert with a fiber optic front site and the standard issue rear site. Love the fiber optic, I can really see it. Great for old eyes.
Tom Bullweed Posted December 28, 2014 Posted December 28, 2014 Novak sights are generally for low-profile, conceal-carry guns. They were very popular with IDPA guns when I played that game. There are very tall fiber optic sights available.
Sgt. C.J. Sabre, SASS #46770 Posted December 29, 2014 Posted December 29, 2014 A while back, I thought I'd get a "Match" barrel bushing for my 1911. I turned out that it raised my POI significantly. While researching replacement sights, I found out that there are several different dovetail cuts available. Novak has a different dovetail than factory, so would not fit on a factory slide. (Those that know more about it than I do, feel free to correct my conclusions). I eventually picked up an old "Micro" adjustable sight, probably dating from the '70s or so. I wound up removing the bushing and going back to the standard bushing when the Micro wouldn't work with my existing, pinned, front sight.
