Ya Big Tree
I’m looking to buy new/better leather so I want to double check my options. I like the feel and position of the drop holsters, but want the option to shoot in as many categories as possible with one purchase so let me see if I’ve got this right. Drop holsters may be worn in any category EXCEPT CLASSIC COWBOY/COWGIRL. Drop Holsters MUST be worn in “B” WESTERN. Drop or Standard Holsters may be worn in any other category. What say you? PaleWolf Brunelle, #2495L
Pretty much so...the critical measurement for Classic Cowboy/Cowgirl and the BW cats is whether any part of the revolver rides above or below the belt on which it is worn. REF: SHB pp.15-
Willie Bentfoot
CLASSIC No Buscadero or drop holster rigs allowed (i.e., part of the grip must be above the belt on which the holster hangs). B WESTERN Buscadero holster rigs or drop holster rigs. (All of the revolver(s) must be carried below the top of the gun belt.) All belt and holster rigs must be embellished (fancy stitching, conchos, spots, or tooling). All holsters must be of the “Double Strong-Side” type. No crossdraw, shoulder rigs, or butt forward configurations allowed.

Ventura Slim, SASS #35690
I use drop holsters but they are not crossdraw. I think most folks crossdraw and if you plan on that, then rethink the drop holster.
Ya Big Tree
I using a strong side drop with a cross draw right now, and I think I'm pretty smooth and efficient with it. But it's time to upgrade leather. I'm thinking I may go with double strong side drop. That way I can shoot Duelist one of these days.
Tom Bullweed
You could use the same two holsters with two different belts if you wanted to shoot BW and CC. The BW belt would be very wide and have Buscadero slots. The CC belt would be much narrower. I can picture it, but it is hard to describe in words. Those categories have many other differences than just leather.

You can shoot duelist with what you have now.

Ya Big Tree
Did you mean double duelist? You can shoot duelist with what you have now. True... But I still need better leather. I would be more apt to shoot duelist than double duelist Thanks.
