DocWard
Out of all of the WWII era aircraft I have had the chance to see fly, that is one I haven't had the pleasure of watching.
Noz
Wasn't the Stuka dive bomber from the Germans equipped with a "whistle" to create such a sound for the psy warfare effect?
Utah Bob #35998
Wasn't the Stuka dive bomber from the Germans equipped with a "whistle" to create such a sound for the psy warfare effect? The STUKA had a wind powered siren called the Jericho Trumpet. The Corsair whistled. The STUKA screamed.

Abilene Slim SASS 81783
I've had the pleasure of seeing that very aircraft up close on start up and departure. Awesome. 60 gallons/hr cross country cruise, 240 gallons/hr full power. Lots of torque from that power and 12' prop. Gotta be ready for it or you roll inverted when you weren't planning on it. That's bad on take off!
Utah Bob #35998
Der STUKA of course, wouldn't stand a snowball's chance with a Corsair on his tail.
