I have looked online and in libraries and found only limited resources. You'd think with technology it would be easier! I have a few old pieces that I am researching. Thanx for any help!

thank you Muleshoe. I checked out the websites and they do not have the unusual silvermarks on my squash necklaces. I have not been able to find the books in libraries either. I found good books on Amazon or B & N, but didn't want to buy one just for a couple of references. An American Indian seller helped me online yesterday.

..try using different search criteria.

Navajo jewelry hallmarks

Native American jewelry makers marks

Navajo silversmiths

American Indian maker stamps

Etc. you get the idea.

Rethink it and come up with others

Thanks pards---I found 2 Navajo: NE Nita Edsitty, and WY Wilson Yazzie

did not find the hallmark with the tiniest stamped handprint, or the J with a tiny box on top.

Try to contact those artists who you were able to identify and ask them. Also, look for the Navajo Tribe website and contact them for other resources. As you know, Navajos aren't the only Tribe creating this artwork. Also, "Yazzie" is a very common Navajo name. Create a drawing of the maker's marks you are trying to ID, shoot a picture and include the picture(s) with your inquiries.

Hope you find what you need.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING !!!
