Sagerider
I have just stripped the original finish from a stock made from very dark walnut. Since having to do a bit of triming, the natural color is not due to stain or oil. Anyone ever attempted to lighten the natural color of walnut? If so, did you use a specific product or simply bleach? Thanks in advance for your comments. Sagerider
Roger Rapid
You can bleach walnut in the sun (assuming you're in a dry climate), turning it every few days so it bleaches evenly. Takes about 10-15 days. Use wood filler before final finish to close the pores. .R

Drench it wet, rag dry it off immediately then flush with water to stop it. If you leave it on too long the wood goes grey in color.
