Rye Miles #13621 Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 Actually there's a marathon of HOW going on now on AMC, the new episode is on at 9:00 est.
Rooster Ron Wayne Posted November 9, 2014 Posted November 9, 2014 Just left a party to make shore I was home to watch it.
The Original Lumpy Gritz Posted November 9, 2014 Posted November 9, 2014 Interesting episode. It sure was OLG
Rye Miles #13621 Posted November 9, 2014 Author Posted November 9, 2014 Interesting episode. Yes it was!!!
Rex M Rugers #6621 Posted November 9, 2014 Posted November 9, 2014 O.K. , I get it that the story is fiction , and one has to suspend reality for the story line in a lot of Westerns , but this one is just getting tedious. If the construction on the railroad had gone at the pace of HOW , it wouldn't be finished yet. And nowhere in the frontier west would the Preacher Lady have been tried for murder of a scum like Sidney. And if we back up a few episodes to the mountain that Bohannan has to cross , just out of Cheyenne !!!! , Dear Hearts , I have been down I-80 many times , and the railroad is within sight quite a bit of the time. I don't remember that mountain range , maybe it eroded down since 1869. Don't get me wrong , I will continue watching , but the story-line could stand improvement. And faster pace. I do hope it gets renewed for next season , to see if they ever finished to Promitory Point , Utah , like my history books said. Rex
Utah Bob #35998 Posted November 9, 2014 Posted November 9, 2014 Negative waves Moriarty. Always with the negative waves. At least they pulled a round ball out of Sid, not a 45 FMJ. :D I was somewhat concerned when Durant pulled tha ball out. He had no metal bowl for it to go "Clink". Everybody knows the bullet pulling operation isn't complete until you hear the "Clink". I watched in horror. NO DURANT! DON'T DROP IT ON THE FLOOR! Then he told Eva to get a pan. "Clink" All was right with the world then. I poured another bourbon. Hel on Wheels has been renewed for a final season next year. Will the railroad get finished? Will somebody else take over? Will the Swede screw everything up? Stay tuned. (if you still get AMC)
SlicLee SASS #16638 Life Posted November 10, 2014 Posted November 10, 2014 The swede is coming, bet you 2 bits!
Klondike SASS Life #29713 Posted November 10, 2014 Posted November 10, 2014 I was not expecting cutting his leg off and so much to be shown. Even if it was after kids time to go to bed. It lent quite a bit if reality to it. It is time to move the carpet baggers out and be done with them. I saw it as Sidney committing suicide by loosening the tourniquet and loosing his own blood on purpose. I also presume laws were different then, Still think the Preacher Lady had every right to do what she did.
Assassin Posted November 10, 2014 Posted November 10, 2014 The land around Cheyenne appears to be lush, with lakes, waterways, and lots of trees. Where was that frozen lake the train crashed through, I'd like to go fishing there. Sherman Hill is just a hill, not quite the rugged mountains, although it is high in elevation, 8000 feet +/-. If my 100 acres were that lush I would be rich. Good show, just wish they would have filmed it in Wyoming, we do have plenty of room. Probably have to shut down when the C-130's are flying over. The city of Cheyenne owns a huge ranch behind my house, thousands of acres, one would think they would build an old town for the purpose of producing period films. Assassin

Rex That's because the mountain in question is west of Calgary, Alberta.

Blackwater 53393 Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 Two episodes remaining! Previews suggest a corker of an ending for the season.

Assassin Did ya ever notice the landscape around Dodge City in Gunsmoke? Obviously filmed in So.Cal. not Kansas!
Bad Hand Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 Not to mention the snow covered mountains in the original True Grit.

Most film companies go to Canada to save money.
Buffalo Creek Law Dog Posted November 13, 2014 Posted November 13, 2014 Not enough money in it. Most film companies go to Canada to save money. With the Canadian Down around down around .87 cents it makes it attractive to film here. Calgary is starting construction of two large studios in addition to what is already here.
SGT. QUINCANNON, SASS #32999 Posted November 13, 2014 Posted November 13, 2014 "I do hope it gets renewed for next season , to see if they ever finished to Promitory Point , Utah , like my history books said. Rex :D" They never get to Promontory Point. The two railroads (UPRR and CPRR) reached Promontory SUMMIT on May 10th, 1869. Cecil B. DeMille made the mistake of calling it Promontory POINT in a film, and the error has been repeated ever since. BTW, some producers from Hell on Wheels were at the California State railroad Museum (where I work) to look into doing some research and consulting with some of our historians. Apparently the CPRR is going to play a role in the show's last season. Can't wait!!

Tex Jones, SASS 2263 Posted November 13, 2014 Posted November 13, 2014 I read that next year's season will be the last.
SGT. QUINCANNON, SASS #32999 Posted November 13, 2014 Posted November 13, 2014 Just curious Sarge, whadya do there at the museum? Sounds like an Interesting place to work I work in Interpretive Services, (or Visitor Services). I am part of the docent training team (we have over 500 active docents), I create and run Interpretive Programs for school groups, I work special events like Gold Rush Days, I train docent tour guides, and I also sometimes oversee museum operations. This is a GREAT PLACE TO WORK.

Bad Hand Posted November 16, 2014 Posted November 16, 2014 Tonights program was thoughtful, and thought provoking, I particulary liked the hangman's gold cross tie stickpin.
Rye Miles #13621 Posted November 16, 2014 Author Posted November 16, 2014 The hangman's little son or grandson was a little bit creepy!! Great show, next week is the finale!!
Tex Jones, SASS 2263 Posted November 16, 2014 Posted November 16, 2014 The hangman's little son or grandson was a little bit creepy!! Great show, next week is the finale!! Was that a boy? Sure had long hair, tied back in a pony tail.
Come On Christmas Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 This year's Hell on Wheels is MY last. It got so tedious I could not watch the rest of it of the "Will they hang her? episode." As they say in show biz, "it's jumped the Shark." And why the eyeball rip out the week before?
Charlie Whiskers Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 I think it was in the previews of next weeks show that Bohanan told Durant he quit.
Klondike SASS Life #29713 Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 The hangman's little son or grandson was a little bit creepy!! Great show, next week is the finale!! +1 The shot of her (the Preacher Lady "Ruth") looking through the black head bag and being able to see before the trap fell was a bit taxing. You knew the trap would trip and she would swing, just enough suspension to hold you. It appears the RR Law is going to quit and head back to the Mormon Fort to his family. Whe4re I think the Swede will be waiting, at which time he finally kills him. Time will tell, that is what I am hoping for. Excellent series, I really want them to wrap it up and have a great series.

Boon Doggle Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 The show is really following the the Hollywood mold of "Evil Triumphs Over Good". Next season will probably be about the railroads really being built by lesbian Muslims.
Badger Mountain Charlie SASS #43172 Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 You are telling me that the story line isn't true? SAY IT AIN'T SO! My faith in Hollywood is shattered.
Yul Lose Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 The last episode was a very tedious. I hope the season finale is better than that one.
