Abilene Slim SASS 81783
I don't think that military service is necessarily a plus. Might be, might not. In the post WWII era, only two presidents out of 12 haven't had military experience (Clinton and Obama). I think we all know how most on this forum feel about them. Of the others during my voting years, I wasn't too fond of Nixon or Carter -- both Navy vets. And let's not forget that Sen. Joe McCarthy -- one of the most despicable politicians of the 20th century, was a Marine (and Republican). Post WW II presidents: Truman (Army) Ike (Army) Kennedy (Navy) Johnson (Navy) Nixon (Navy) Ford (Navy) Carter (Navy) Reagan (Army) Bush I (Navy) Clinton (none) Bush II (Air Force) Obama (none)
