Lead Ringer Posted November 5, 2014 Posted November 5, 2014 SOLD pending funds....for sale a beautiful Limited Addition Rifle[/b]. This is the Winchester "Legendary Frontiersman", Chambered in the 38-55 cartridge. The rifle has engraved and silver plated receiver, deluxe checkered walnut stock, 24" barrel, includes factory box and a box of 38-55 Winchester ammo (ammo was manufactured for the Limited production rifles) Rifle is a shooter that is in great condition about 96%-98%. One wood chip on front stock (see picture) Bluing is about perfect. Bore is perfect. Would make a great long range lever gun or hunting rifle. Spaniard,SASS#35864 Posted November 5, 2014 Posted November 5, 2014 Howdy, Let me know if you still have her in a weeks time. Interested then. Regards, Spaniard
The Coconino Pistolero, SASS # 72432 Posted November 5, 2014 Posted November 5, 2014 I have one as well and won some matches with it. Mine runs with .378 bullets with BP or the fancy smokeless stuff. Put a tang sight on it and you will have a good steel ringer for long-range.
Litl Red Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 Just curious, what year was it manufactured? According to the 2013 Gun Digest red book (titled: "The Official GunDigest Book of Guns&Prices,2013") the commemorative 1894 "Legendary Frontiersman" was mfg'd in 1979. It says Winchester made 19,999 of them for a price of $425 each. That red book suggests a NIB value of 1,100 but does not show it's usual list of values based on condition. BTW, these Winchester commemoratives are very often worth more than the blue and red book values. Lead Ringer's is a perfect example. Look at the checkering. It would be a higher quality pattern/option on a standard listing.
