Rooster Ron Wayne Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 I had so much fun last weekend . Shooting on the dark side, With my Pard Gunner Gatlin . I have decided to shot the holy grail from now on. I just bought 24 pounds of Goex powder. So I think I will be set for awhile :-)
The Original Lumpy Gritz Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 You'll go through it pretty quick. Hope you got 3F. OLG
Rooster Ron Wayne Posted November 1, 2014 Author Posted November 1, 2014 Yep FFF. It should last me a few years :-)
Gunner Gatlin, SASS 10274L Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 Â .... I mean.... What more can be said! Â GG
Rooster Ron Wayne Posted November 1, 2014 Author Posted November 1, 2014 I am guna shoot Frontier Cartridge category from now on . I guess this will give a new out look to my name. Michigan Mudd Rooster Lol (Dirty Bird)Lol
Cliff Hanger #3720LR Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 "Yep FFF.It should last me a few years :-)" ===================== The statement alone tells me you are just beginning with BP. Â 24 pounds is not much for shooting full time. Heck 1 pound only loads between 100 and 130 rounds of 12 ga depending on standard or light loading. Â You can go through 2 or 3 pounds in a 12 stage match easily.
G #1840 Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 Must ...... resist ....... urge ........ write in ......... meter. Oh dang! Â Bullets leave my gun Followed by clouds of foul smoke Oh, the smell of it.
Come On Christmas Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 Au Contraire! No needy 3F. Skirmish Fg works jest fine. And what does a 3000 pound bird say? Â CHEAP! Â Like Rocket Powder rather than Dynamite. Â Easier on older guns, plenty of fiya, brimstone, and smoke. Â But then I am a nasty SOB. Â Crayfish That Shameless Womanizer your woman loves.
Noz Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 Yep FFF. It should last me a few years :-) If you shoot several matches, it will be gone in a short!
Wolfgang, SASS #53480 Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 I got my first ( Pietta brass framed Remington ) . . .got the "ingredients" to make it work, . . . . fired the first shot . . . and wuz HOOKED. I can't recall if I've fired any smokeless ? ( God please forgive me for the blastfemy of using that word ) since, . . . other than a few .22s.
Rooster Ron Wayne Posted November 3, 2014 Author Posted November 3, 2014 I already cant wait for the smoke to begin.
Three Foot Johnson Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 Au Contraire! No needy 3F. Skirmish Fg works jest fine. Â Crayfish That Shameless Womanizer your woman loves. Yep - I use Skirmish #1 in shotshells and it seems to work just fine in .56-.50 and .45 Colt too.
Chantry Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014  Heck 1 pound only loads between 54 and 57 rounds of 10 ga   Fixed it for you
J-BAR #18287 Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 I confess occasional deviations into smokeless regions. Â I always come back to the black. Â I introduced my son to cowboy action shooting, had him shoot Frontier Cartridge in his first match. Â No point in having him led astray at the beginning....
Apache Hawk 60642 Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 Started Frontiersman from day one.....new to SASS...with no help, save this forum here and 2F Goex in everything I shot. Â This recipe over the years still aint changed atall ! Â Â Â If it aint broke, don't fix it, Paw would always say, it applies to the smell of brimstone in the morning ! Â Â Welcome to the DARKSIDE !
Utah Bob #35998 Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 Black Powder shooters lend an air of class to what would otherwise be a dull affair. Fwoooom!
Hangman Hank, sass #77995 Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 God help you! now the real fun begins. went to the darkside over a year ago. never had so much fun shooting anything before! you will love it.
Noz Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 I made a mistake with Skirmish a few years back. I loaded a bunch of shotgun shells xtra heavy for the visual effects at a night shoot. No one had explained that one shot with a 4 foot fireball and lots of flying sparklers completely ruined my night vision for the rest of the match. They said I had burning powder bouncing off of the shotgun targets. Really kinda cool.
