Favorite Marching Songs?

Come On Christmas

Or songs that buck you up when you have something arduous indeed to face. I hum the first ditty.

Penultimate example below

Yet another -

Onward Christian Soldier

Crayfish

There is a Carptho-Rus version of "Christos Voskrese" that works great as a marching song.

British Grenadiers (Dirty Songbook version)

Hitler has only got one ball (Col. Boogy March)

And, thanks to "Stripes"

Also, several Roy Orbison/Jerry Lee Lewis pieces.

It's not a SONG unless you can sing it.

Example - the first one

Hand me my oatmeal mother

I am so hungry mother

Hand me my sheep for I am lonely tonight

Hand me my peanut butter

Hand me my salad oil

England's disgusting but Scotland's depraved.

Anything march John Phillip Souza wrote would top my list. I still think I could pick up a saxophone and play "Stars and Stripes Forever" by memory.

Crayfish done bummed me out.

It was bad enough that Duke used a Winchester 92 in The Commancheros, which took place BEFORE the War Against Yankee Aggression. He's got a rifle that's at least fifty years too early.

But Duke and Lee Marvin were singing Pretty Red Wing, in the saloon, and now I find out it wan't written until 1907. So he has,not only a fifty-years-too-early rifle, but a sixtyfive-years-too-early song.

Most of the Sousa stuff( still can't get my wife the piccolo player to attempt the picc solo in the Stars and Stripes coda, though). Colonel Bogey is good, along with National Emblem and The French National DeFilet(SP?)

Comrades in arms.

I actually also enjoyed the Army and AF fight songs - but we had slightly different words to them back when we knew all the words to each - both versions (original and modified)!.....

I don't agree with their politics but those boys could write inspirational music.

The French National Anthem (La Marseillaise) is pretty inspirational.

I always like this version.

Panzerlied I think is the name of the song from the Battle of the Bulge movie. It gets my blood moving for sure even though I don't understand German.

There is also Panzergrenadierlied - not in the movie, but still stirring. Check out that link I posted in reply to Noz.
