Waimea Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 I've been wondering about this myself lately. What if we degrade so far as to have wandering bands of Vigilanties. What if I had a neighbor who I had gotten to know over the course of several years. What if he and his family were being targeted because of religious beliefs. What if he and his family came knocking one night saying they had been tipped off that the Vigilanties were coming to kill them THAT NIGHT. What if they wanted to hide in my house until the dust settled. What would I do? Would I be like the people that hid Anne Frank? Or would I turn them away to be murdered? What if their last name was Cohen? Schwartz? or Aaron? What if their last name was Mahmoud? Kassem? Mohamed? I have known many Jews. I worked for them and with them in New York. I have found most to be very generous. As a people they have contributed much to this world. I would not have a problem hiding a Jewish family and defending them if necessary. I have known few Muslims so I have no answer to these questions. I do not see them as having contributed much good to the planet since before Christ. And yet they are a neighbor and a family. May I never have to discover the real answer. Waimea

I do not see them as having contributed much good to the planet since before Christ. And yet they are a neighbor and a family. I've known enough Muslims, both in America and abroad, to know that we are more alike than we are different. There are extreme Muslims and Christians, and quite honestly, they both scare me to action. Something else to add to your pondering..... My mother's family was caught harboring Jews on their farm. They were taken to Dachau where several members died. After my mother came to the states, she was hated and persecuted by Jews for being German............ They didn't even try to find out her real story.
