Buffalo Dick, SASS #12880
If you made reservations at the Town and Country motel in McKee, Kentucky for the weekend of August 22, you may want to confirm them. We made ours last year before leaving town after the match, but they apparently lost all or most reservations made before this spring explaining "Bob lost a bunch of paperwork." I found out I had no reservation when I called to confirm this morning and they were neither apologetic nor helpful. They offered to put me on a waiting list but I would be about fifth in line for a motel that has about a dozen rooms. The next closest motels are about thirty miles away and that drive is not much fun at night through the mountains. To loosely quote Jerry Seinfeld: " The trick is not taking the reservation, the trick is keeping the reservation."
Appalachian Alan
Sorry to hear that. Not much choice in hotels of the area. London might be the best choice. See the other Hooten post for directions from London. route 30 will get you to within 10 miles of Mckee on a very nice fast rd.
Bad Jeemes Kelly
I didn't realize McKee even had a hotel, but if I wanted to stay near there, I'd probably stay in London or Richmond and drive a little each morning. No offense to anybody from McKee, but there's not much there and what there is, is a little sketchy.
