Sedalia Dave Posted August 13, 2014 Posted August 13, 2014 Nice short bio and great pictures. Loved her part in the Shootist with John Wayne. http://www.latimes.com/entertainment/movies/moviesnow/la-et-mn-lauren-bacall-dies-20140812-story.html This quote sums up her philosophy on life and acting really well. She said this in an interview after winning the Kennedy Center Honor in 1997 "Listen, I never went into this business thinking of winning anything," she said. "I went into it because I loved it and I wanted to be good at it. It was a form of expression for me. I love to hide behind characters. So [any recognition] I get is a perk. It's just an extra. Just the fact that all that happened to me last year, it is -- well -- fabulous."
Gunner Gatlin, SASS 10274L Posted August 13, 2014 Posted August 13, 2014 A lady that exhibits true class. Something you don't see much of or at all in Hollywood. RIP Ms. Bacall. GG
Harvey Mushman Posted August 13, 2014 Posted August 13, 2014 Enjoyed her movies and her characters. Also enjoyed her interviews. A very classy, talented LADY. RIP Betty. God Speed.
Utah Bob #35998 Posted August 13, 2014 Posted August 13, 2014 They don't make movie stars like that anymore.
Bama Red Posted August 13, 2014 Posted August 13, 2014 A rapier sharp wit, opinionated as all get out, a very talented actress and an extremely classy broad who loved being called a broad (or a dame). RIP, Miss Bacall.
Nasty Newt # 7365 Posted August 13, 2014 Posted August 13, 2014 She gets credit for naming Sinatra's "Rat Pack." The gang, including Bogart, Sammy Davis, Dean Martin, Joey Bishop, and Peter Lawford was on the train bound for Vegas with their ladies. The guys were hitting the bar pretty hard and cutting up, which prompted her to sarcastically remark, "Look at you guys. You look like a pack of rats." And it stuck. R.I.P.
Calamity Kris Posted August 13, 2014 Posted August 13, 2014 R.I.P. Ms Bacall. You and Bogie will be back together again. We'll miss your class and style.
Stubborn Dutchman, SASS # 61363 Posted August 13, 2014 Posted August 13, 2014 A beautiful lady with class, charm and aheart a mile wide. I have the movie African Queen, and in the extra features section, there is a nice Making of the African Queen. When Bogie arrives so did miss Bacall. She cooked, and nursed the acters and crew all alone the river portions of the filming, as many got very ill from drinking the water. Bogie and the director were the only ones not stricken as they drank mostly wiskey! R.I.P Miss Bacall. The world is a better place because of you.
SGT. QUINCANNON, SASS #32999 Posted August 13, 2014 Posted August 13, 2014 Duke's last love interest, gone to the big screening room in the sky. Bon Voyage, Madame...
