shotgun; engage the 3 swingers in a Nevada sweep for 5 rounds. the question was, all the double shooters were loading two to then shoot the last or 5th shot. instructions didn't say 5+. And because they were swingers it was assumed they were hit.

The question was should the double shooters have gotten a minor safety for loading too many rounds for the scenario?

No they would not have a MS. What if they would have loaded only one shell in their double and messed up and shoot off target not hitting it? Double shooters almost always load two any time they have to shoot even one target...that's in case they miss. All they have to do is to dump the live and the spent round on the ground and then continue on.

Some ranges, however, have range rules about not dropping live ammo on the ground and there may be a local range rule where a MS would be given.....however that is not a SASS rule.

NO.

There is no MSV for overloading a firearm...either at the LT or during the stage.

And to stage writing school....5 shotgun targets, why penalize the double shooter??

Jefro  Relax-Enjoy

Exactly - it is stage writing like this that leads to hurt feelings and the appearance of impropriety (even if none exists).

The stage writer has to be aware of how his (or her) stages affect all shooters and equipment users and (attempt to ) avoid placing any shooting category or equipment choice at a disadvantage compared to any other.
