Trying to settle the grounds in boiled coffee by using a little cold water has never quite worked for me. Nor has the eggshell method. Or any of the egg methods. First choice, French press, second, boil it up in a briki (Turkish coffee pot), then anything else. I know a number of folks on the teardrop camper circuit who love the Aeropress coffee maker: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AeroPress They claim it's better than French press coffee, and faster. It can use paper filters so there's less sediment. Not something I'd want to backpack with because it's got a lot of parts, but in a camper it wouldn't be bad. I've heard the debate go different ways. I'm partial to the french press (I have three, of different sizes, two were gifts). I don't mind the sediment, and I think the steeping allows the flavor to develop more, personally. I just paid $18.00, including S&H, for a 14 oz can from Amazon on line... and it took three weeks to get it. I only drink about four cups a week, but that's too much for any coffee.
