Forty Rod SASS 3935 Posted July 5, 2014 Posted July 5, 2014 Another humble hero. One like him is worth hundreds of strutting make-believe "heros" and public figures of all kinds who has usurped the title for personal gain. God bless him.
Elk Creek LeMieux Posted July 5, 2014 Posted July 5, 2014 What kinda man does it take to sneak back into a POW camp, having spent three years in a concentration camp in his teens? Absolutely selfless there...
Utah Bob #35998 Posted July 6, 2014 Posted July 6, 2014 A lot of DPs joined the Army after the war. 10th Special Forces in Europe ended up with quite a few. They were very valuable due to their language skills and knowledge of Eastern European countries that ended up be hind the Iron Curtain. I worked with a few in the '60s. They were great soldiers. Even if a tad hard to understand sometimes when they got excited, or drunk.
