So why does Uberti not make an 1892?

There are already a lot of players in the 1892 world:

original pre-WWII Winchester (my favorite rifle for all purposes)

Rossi

El Tigre (not made in years)

Miroku-made Brownings and Winchesters

Chiappa

My question is why doesn't Uberti make a short-throw tactical 1873 in 9mm, .40 S&W and .45 ACP. The bolt would ytravel 2/3 as far as standard guns, and these cartridges generate limited pressures. Capacity would be around 13-14 rounds for a 20" barrel.

Maybe because the 92 is just not as popular as the 66 and 73 and Henry's. Uberti is not stupid!

Howdy,

My question is why doesn't Ruger make a 92?

A 9mm 92 could be awesome.

Maybe they could try making a rifle like a BL-22 short stroke?

Gotta love the BL-22, cant figure why I waited so long.....

Best

Armi San Marco made '92's as well. Not particularly well, I've heard.

As for why Uberti doesn't make a '73 for those semi-auto cartridges, I'd say it is because they can't keep up with orders for the existing calibers so no sense adding more. Also wouldn't be SASS legal and the non-CAS folks who like those calibers are likely to prefer a semi-auto carbine which are available and less expensive. So basically, limited manufacturing capacity and limited market.
