I just case gauged the last batch of AA lite recoil low noise shells purchased at Sportsmans Warehouse last week.

50% (half !) of the rounds failed to fall into the gauge.

So, I'm thinking this rebate wasn't such a bargain after all.

Probably that wad that Winchester has been using, causing problems again. The base of the wad bulges the hull wall about 0.5" above the brass. Look for a small bump most of the way around the loaded shell.

If they would use a good wad design that fits their tapered AA hulls better, they wouldn't be so sticky and fail to gauge properly!

Good luck, GJ

Grafs has them in stock now for $81 a case. I bought three cases to add to the two cases I bought locally. Now to get out a sharp knife and start cutting out UPC codes.

Cheaper than dirt has the federal version for 69.99 iirc I been using them as the aa and sts are hard to find. For the aa not gauging that's where the MEC size master comes in handy.

Been shooting featherlites since 96 in oh about at least two dozen CAS shotguns. Thousands of shells loaded, fired and shucked fine.

Never had a single problem with a single round.

Not about to start worrying about them now.

The wad bulge on newly made AAs is above the brass, where the sizing collet of a Mec Supersizer or MEC reloaders cannot touch it.

If you have a double that is sensitive to bulged hulls not "jerk-extracting" easily, I have found it wise to avoid new factory AAs unless you chamber-gauge EACH one.

If you are not in competition for your category's top spot, it may not matter to you at all. In that situation, well, life is easy, huh?

Good luck, GJ

I guess the shells that did gauge before the size master that did after had a different problem. Yeah, I'm not at the top like some Joe, but I had notice several hulls not gauging before my accident and I put them in my size master and they dropped right in and out of the gauge afterwards.
