Ramblin Gambler Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 Don't ask why I wanna know this, but I'm curious if any of you do shoots wearing a dress or skirt (I almost addressed this to just the ladies, but decided not to discriminate). How do you wear your pistols with a dress? Do you just not tie the leg straps, or is there another trick to it?
jrswanson1 Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 Did you lose a bet? My rig doesn't have tie downs.
Gold Canyon Kid #43974 Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 I offered to wear a dress but they still would not let me enter the Grand Dame category.
Krazy Kajun Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 There was a few interesting side matches at the recent Georgia State match and if you wanna see how to shoot in a dress I'll see if I can scare up the picture of Miss Prissy Pants....she/he will show you how to "get it done."
John Henry Quick Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 The dress isn't a problem, but the bonnet does TERRIBLE things to my hair!
Branchwater Jack SASS #88854 Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 It was a night shirt. NOT a dress. And my holsters do not have tie downs
Cheatin' Chamberlin Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 Just make sure it is not made by Wrangler or made of BLUE JEAN material and you will be ok. Cheatin'
Buckshot Dobbs Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 Here is my wife shooting in a dress my mom made her at an annual in Ft. Smith earlier this year.....
Anvil Al #59168 Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 Don't ask why I wanna know this, but I'm curious if any of you do shoots wearing a dress or skirt (I almost addressed this to just the ladies, but decided not to discriminate). How do you wear your pistols with a dress? Do you just not tie the leg straps, or is there another trick to it? Most rigs don't have or need leg straps.
charlietwogunz Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 I would have trouble with the corset. Did i spell that right?? Bonnet no prob.
jrswanson1 Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 I would have trouble with the corset. Did i spell that right?? Bonnet no prob. Corsets aren't a problem once you are in them. It's the getting in and out that's the problem! Not big on bonnets, bees tend to be attracted to them.
Ramblin Gambler Posted May 27, 2014 Author Posted May 27, 2014 Most rigs don't have or need leg straps. This might be the answer. I need the tie downs personally. It messes me up when they come untied. I guess I'll check and see if the missus needs hers.
Shawnee McGrutt Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 Sounds like a strategy move to me. Get everyone laughing so hard that they can't shoot straight. Might have to give it a try. Keep your powder dry Shawnee
The Original Lumpy Gritz Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 Just watch, "South of Heaven-West of Hell" and you'll see how easy it is. LG
Branchwater Jack SASS #88854 Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 And remember, when putting on a garter belt, the rose goes in front, big guy.
Nevada Skye, SASS #54791 Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 I always shoot in a dress or skirt.....so much more comfortable and easy to make cooler or warmer!! Never have used the leg tie-downs. You should see Autumn Rose, she shoots in a dress with a bustle!!!

Ace_of_Hearts Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 Usum B Western Shooters are often called Prairie Fairies ........ I might be convinced to wear a pink cowboy hat and pink shirt....... But I'll pass on the dress. Just as a footnote. One lady put slits in the side of her skirt so she could tie her rig down to her leg.......
Nevada Skye, SASS #54791 Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 Getting ready for Eldorado 'Pink" day, are you Ace? Thank you for passing on the dress part...............
watab kid Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 ive not seen folks using tie downs up here , have seen a few with the leather ties but never in use , i have seen a couple fellas in our club shooting in kilts , id not be mentioning anything about skirts and dresses to them however - both good shots and fairly sizable guys - good natured to a point if'n ya know what i mean
Shawnee McGrutt Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 Branchwater, I will keep that in mind. But I have one question for you, how do you know this bit of fashion advice?
Shawnee McGrutt Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 Ace, never heard B-Western called Prairie Fairies, I'll have to tell my buddy who shoots B-Western. He six foot six and about 250 pounds and a Marine. You want to tag along?
Ace_of_Hearts Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 Ace, never heard B-Western called Prairie Fairies, I'll have to tell my buddy who shoots B-Western. He six foot six and about 250 pounds and a Marine. You want to tag along? Then you need to watch the movie Rustlers Rhapsody.
Mack Hacker, #60477 Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 Last Saturday, at Comanche Valley Vigilantes, most all of the lady shooters wore dresses. at least the 6 that stayed around for the awards all had very nice long dresses on and shot very well in them. My wife always shoots in a long dress or skirt.
Allie Mo, SASS No. 25217 Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 Hello, I wear a skirt most of the time. When I don't wear a skirt, I wear a split skirt or big fluffy bloomers. Regards, Allie Mo
Snakebite Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 Hello, I wear a skirt most of the time. When I don't wear a skirt, I wear a split skirt or big fluffy bloomers. Regards, Allie Mo And you wear them Oh so well!
Ruby Redsmoke Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 I have tie down holsters and always wear skirts. I put button holes in my skirts and the tie downs go through the button hole. You have to look to see them when I'm not wearing the holsters.
Curly Red Ryder Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 Never had a problem with my rigs when I shoot wearing my kilt!
Cowboy Junky Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 Here's two go getter's in dresses........ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fUYm7h4kA2Y
Branchwater Jack SASS #88854 Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 Branchwater, I will keep that in mind. But I have one question for you, how do you know this bit of fashion advice? I, um, saw it in a movie once. Yeah... Bull Durham. That's it. Funny. I swear!
Guest Half-a-Hand Henri Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 The real secret? Cellulite, baby!! Holsters don't go anywhere!!
