NH House will vote to formally kill SB 244 next week

The NH House Judiciary Committee unanimously voted to kill S.B. 244. I stand with Gun Owners of America in opposition to this bill.

In the end, the state Senate has stripped the bill of its nasty gun ban and anti-gun study.

But the drafters of this bill didn’t really have the legislative drafting skills. In addition to comical drafting errors, the bill’s process for restoring rights is unnecessarily difficult and expensive.

Strategically, the bill is like a fumbled football. There is too much danger, as House anti-gunners could seize it and turn it into an anti-gun vehicle.

There is no doubt that after November, the General Court will be more pro-gun. And we will have an opportunity to consider restoration of rights for gun owners who were adjudicated for temporary mental deficiencies and other pro-gun issues in a better environment.
