John Wayne Museum in Bowie, MD!

There's a John Wayne Museum in Bowie, Maryland!

I was going into a local Wawa when I saw a car with signs on the back for a John Wayne Museum in Bowie. One sign said "Honk if you love John Wayne". The license was J WAYNE.

When I went back to my car, I had to stop by and ask what was up. I'm a fan and I've never heard of this in 35 years in MD.

I met Mr. Bill Atkins. He was a Marine at Camp Pendleton when Duke showed up to make The Flying Leathernecks. Mr. Atkins and some of his fellow Marines were extras in the movie.

He became a huge fan and has turned part of his office into a museum.

Another initiative is to get John Wayne's picture on the $1 bill. He gave me one as a souvenir.

It was a story on John Wayne's pistol that led me into Cowboy Action Shooting.

Dang, Hodgepodge, I've lived in the area since 1980 and I haven't heard of it, either.
