Thats neat. Could we see a demo with a double?

How about adding thorns...just kidding....

I mite suggest making the "branches" shorter for shorter shooters.... other than that, good idea....

cool!!! great idea!!

DDD, while it could be used with shotguns (especially considering the recent rule change) we designed it for rifles. We have LOTS of props for staging shotguns, but really saw the need for a freestanding prop that allows rifle staging and restaging in the middle of the bay while still providing safe muzzle direction during down range movement.

I like it!

I reckon to stage a double safely I'd hang it over the crook unless vertical was required by stage design.

I gotcha.

Looks great to me. It might could use a little padding where the mag tube hits.

I just want to know what all that green stuff is in your yard? We got 6 inches of snow and two foot drifts. Winds blowing about 25mph and 28 degrees.

Can we use a snow bank for a gun rack? :)

Very cool staging prop. I like it a lot

The first Saguaro in Michigan. I like it.

Ain't used to seeing it myself. Last week we were single digits yesterday was close to 70 degrees. From snow shovel to lawn mower in a week. Whoever settled in MI first must have arrived in the summer LOL.

Looks good ta me. Them Floridy boys may have trouble tho. Cool

RRR

Why is that RRR?

It appears to rely on a single reinforced 90 degree base for stability. When you placed the rifle back in the rack it had some movement. My first though was top heavy and little unstable. I'm sure you will work that out

I do like the design..........for a vertical rack ;)

Wyatt, yes you are correct. It will rely on a t post on the back side at well as the 4 stakes. It was sitting in mud which does not help. We we're to lazy to put a t post in for the video. Once post is added it will be rock solid. We wanted to minimize the foot print of it and not want a bunch of legs and braces sticking out everywhere. This will pretty much be the design with just a couple of small design changes. The one in video is made of cheap OSB and the final will be made of quality plywood which will only increase the stability.

I am going to commit heresy and say it does not appeal to me. I might change my mind after I get a chance to use one, but from the video it appears less desirable than a plain flat surface or vertical staging on the ground.

I am tall enough to grab the rifle ok, but I don't like shooting through cactus arms or having to move to one side or the other after acquiring the rifle. I think shorter shooters would also find that difficult.

If I had one available for practice, I could probably get the feel and my times down to a respectable (for me) level. But coming to range that uses these without having ever seen one before puts me at a disadvantage.

Sorry to be wet blanket. I admire creativity and trying new things in CAS, This particular thing just doesn't trip my switch.

Heee Haaa.. SAH I was just wondering WHO is the local" little" person.. you mention..

Stan, you're perceptive. The first thing we realized from the prototype was a need for a bit more width of the upright. The sides of the box will be a bit taller too.

J-bar, there is no need to shoot through the arms or is there much movement needed to work around the prop due to its small size. It is smaller than it appears in the video. The sides are only 16" wide.

J Bar, I can understand your thoughts and concerns. Knowing that it was going to receive some criticism on here was part of the deal. It's not designed to shoot over or through. The video makes it appear that I am doing that but actually I am off to the side. This is cowboy ACTION shooting and having to make slight negotiations of props I don't believe is asking too much from a shooter regardless of skill level or height. This prop will allow for full use of the bay during downrange movement which we do a lot of at the MI state championship. Usually 7-8 out of the 10 stages have downrange movement and this will give me much more flexibility in achieving that safely without having to work off the edge of the berm. If you might be able to shoot over it. But if you are that tall during the match you will get punked someplace else usually. Some folks will never give it a chance because it's a vertical rack. So be it but I can guarantee you will see at least 2 of them at Range War.

I like it. I can't stand vertical staging on the ground. You have to lean over to far. The design is good and different. Looks better than any vert stageing I've seen

Real neat prop.

I was watching the video timer when you picked up the rifle and the moment you placed it back on the prop....... 2 seconds.

Not too bad.

:)

EDIT: actually, I like it more than I do the horse/donkey horizontal racks. And it seems to be more feasible also.

Thanks for all the encouragement so far guys and gals. This is one of those things that if you believe it won't work for you it probably won't. After putting on about 6 shooters clinics I have found that most people hinder themselves by believing they can't do something rather than having positive reinforcement and believe they can. Like with all things different it will take some getting used to. But I believe the changes in the rules as of late make vertical staging when done right a more viable option than ever before.

That looks cool and should add a lot of flexibility to down range movement. I also like the fact that it's not as big and bulky as some of the vertical racks I've seen in the past. Great job guys.

True, good time but, I counted two misses and a P. :P

Outstanding idea there Duece. Something like that would look great out here where we don't have all that green stuff on the ground. I can also see hinging it for easy storage on our range since we have to pack up after every match. Then it's just a matter of pounding a couple stakes in the ground to keep it secure.

Deuce;

Nice looking vertical prop. I can see lots of good uses.

Could I have a copy of the plans when you get to final production?
