Anyone have experience with the PGW new-style action springs for the '73? Are they a significant improvement over a professionally ground factory spring?

I have a Uberti 1873 Deluxe 45LC with the PGW action springs and a Uberti 1873 32-20 with a SliXPring Kit. I'm really happy with both and cannot tell much difference in the rifles. The SliXPrings are more adjustable than the PGW action springs. The pins in my PGW kits have bent a little but still seems to be working fine and I always re-install the pins just as they were so any bending does not occur in the other direction. I have some lightened factory springs in my original 1873 Winchesters but I don't use them in competition. Hope this helps some. Ace

Thanks Ace. I have Slix springs in another '73 but it's not short stroked. I just my new '73 back from Cody and it's great but I wondered if the high-tech springs were a good upgrade.

I use them and they have worked well. The pin is supposed to bend, so no worries.

The PGW springs are very tunable just got to a hobbie store by different thickness piano wire and start adjusting until your happy.

There are many people that work on 73s that don't like the Pioneer Gun Works ACTION SPRINGS pictured here http://shop.pioneergunworks.com/product.sc?productId=67&categoryId=2

These are drastically different from Slix Springs pictured here http://www.longhunt.com/storelh/index.php?route=product/product&path=88_96&product_id=241

The ACTION SPRINGS do not require adjustment and provide a very nice feel to the action of the gun. I like them.

Do you mean those little rods are piano wire. I have them in my 73 from PGW . Would have never thought they were piano wire.. They work very nicely

I got them in my PGW 73. One year down and no problems what so ever. I inspect them when I got the rifle apart and everything still looks good.

I use Whisper Springs from The Smith Shop they seem to work great, never had an issue with them. Few $'s cheaper than the Slixsprings
