Col Del Rio
Greetings All, Question: With regards to lever and pump actions rifles, are models with safeties permitted for SASS and Wild Bunch? Colonel Del Rio
Larsen E. Pettifogger, SASS #32933
Examples? No SASS legal pump has a "safety" in the sense you probably mean. Some Marlins, some Winchester 94s and some Rossi 92s have "safeties." They are SASS legal.

Garrison Joe, SASS #60708
It's not going to be an external safety button or lack of one that makes a rifle legal for SASS Cowboy or Wild Bunch matches. The rule book (Shooter's Handbook) available from the SASS home page will give you the details of what rifles are legal. Most of the rifles from the period did not have a safety "button/lever/whatchamacallit" but instead relied on the chamber being left empty and action only being worked when the gun was to be shot. Good luck, GJ BTW - to get fully detailed answers, sometimes it's wise to start your post with a fully detailed question or scenario. BTW ** 2 - Welcome to the fire! Col Del Rio
Thanks All. I am a "trust but verify" type. I do the research but I always asked for confirmation.
