The incident was reported shortly after 4 p.m. Saturday. The San Diego Fire-Rescue Department's Metro Arson Strike Team is on scene. Investigators are sending a robot to check out the 16mm mortar. More details will be posted as they become available.
Badger Mountain Charlie SASS #43172 Posted March 9, 2014 Posted March 9, 2014 16 mm? Maybe 60 or 81? 4.2? Shirley not 16mm
Hardpan Curmudgeon SASS #8967 Posted March 9, 2014 Posted March 9, 2014 So we need to clarify sumpin'... Is the "mortar" the launcher or the projectile...? And I worked with a "Shirley" back in the 70's who indeed WAS a 42D. But that was after "augmentation..." And then one day she let out a shriek and dashed out the door... was gone a few days. Seems she'd sprung a leak!
Alpo Posted March 9, 2014 Posted March 9, 2014 Probably the report was called in. Many's the time someone told me a number and I'd say, "is that one-five or five-zero". 60 was probably misheard.
