Subdeacon Joe Posted March 7, 2014 Posted March 7, 2014 It CAN'T get any more stupider (sic) than this. Can it? ‘Experiences of racism may explain in part the high prevalence of obesity among African American women,’ said Yvette Cozier, assistant professor of epidemiology at Boston University who led the research.

Trailrider #896 Posted March 7, 2014 Posted March 7, 2014 And how do they explain the increase in obesity in white women, and Hispanic women, and white men and Hispanic men, and Klingons, etc.? How about the availability of fast foods that are high in calories, but are convenient for our busy lifestyles? How about people regardless of race that spend most of their time sedentary. (That's sitting on your a$$ most of the day, even if it is part of your job. And I resemble that, unfortunately. I do watch what I eat, so I'm not obese...just about 10 lbs overweight! )So far as the study that white children throught blacks felt less pain is concerned, could it be what they are taught by their families? Naw! As the song in the movie, "South Pacific" said, "You've got to be carefully taught. To hate all the people your relatives hate, and people whose eyes are differently made. You've got to be carefully taught!"Oh, and by-the-bye, if you oppose certain politics of certain people, you are racist! The possibility that those politics might be wrong has nothing to do with it! Of course! (Paul Harvey sigh...)
Birdgun Quail, SASS #63663 Posted March 7, 2014 Posted March 7, 2014 I thought obesity was caused by having too much fat on your body. But, what do I know?
Badlands Bob #61228 Posted March 7, 2014 Posted March 7, 2014 I guess they don't want to take responsibility for being fat either.
Branchwater Jack SASS #88854 Posted March 7, 2014 Posted March 7, 2014 Put down the fork. I was at a fast food choke and puke yesterday with my family. We ate pretty sensibly. I even ate a kids meal because its smaller portion and I wasn't that hungry. The rather large man behind me orders 3 super sized combos, sits down, and gobbles them all up. Now, I ain't judging anyone, but for a lot of folks, it is an intake problem!
Dusty Balz, SASS#46599 Posted March 7, 2014 Posted March 7, 2014 Maybe she should get out and actually work for a living, mY help her shed a few pounds
Curley Fryes Posted March 7, 2014 Posted March 7, 2014 It CAN'T get any more stupider (sic) than this. Can it? Looks to me like this woman did not take her medication that morning!!
Cliff Hanger #3720LR Posted March 7, 2014 Posted March 7, 2014 The daily stress of working to try and pay your bills and do what you would like to do is just one thing that helps keep weight down. How ever if all you need to do to pay your bills and buy the things you want is wait for the government check to show up, the stress of daily life is missing.
Clay Mosby Posted March 7, 2014 Posted March 7, 2014 Welcome to the world where only the white, protestant/catholic conservatives are to blame for anything that goes wrong. All other races/religions/life styles are completely blameless for anything.
Tom Bullweed Posted March 7, 2014 Posted March 7, 2014 Warning: very politically incorrect text following this warning. I have been to every corner in the US and some in Europe and Asia. I live in an average-sized city in NC. Here are my observations about my area: * Food that is comparatively bad is cheaper than healthier food * Poorer areas have more fast food restaurants (because it is cheaper and that seems to be what people there patronize) * Poorer areas tend to be populated by minorities * A growing number of people want to find someone else responsible for their poor choices * Food providers formulate their products to induce more eating and driving (added slats and carbs) in order to create more demand There seems to be plenty of causes of this issue.
The Original Lumpy Gritz Posted March 7, 2014 Posted March 7, 2014 The level of total and complete BS in that piece-or-work. Just shows that anydangthing can get printed in that rag. LG
Jackson Rose, SASS #45478 Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 Silly me, I thought obesity was from eating too much.
Subdeacon Joe Posted March 8, 2014 Author Posted March 8, 2014 The daily stress of working to try and pay your bills and do what you would like to do is just one thing that helps keep weight down. How ever if all you need to do to pay your bills and buy the things you want is wait for the government check to show up, the stress of daily life is missing. "Data suggests that chronic exposure to stress can result in dysregulation of important neuroendocrine functions, (interactions between the nervous and endocrine systems) which can influence the accumulation of excess body fat." See? You have that just backwards. The stress of working, trying to balance all your bills, and still have a few bucks to buy a bag of chips or some such is what should lead to weight gain.
Sgt. C.J. Sabre, SASS #46770 Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 The rather large man behind me orders 3 super sized combos, sits down, and gobbles them all up. Yeah, but he probably had a Diet Coke to wash it down with.
