It CAN'T get any more stupider (sic) than this.

Can it?

‘Experiences of racism may explain in part the high prevalence of obesity among African American women,’ said Yvette Cozier, assistant professor of epidemiology at Boston University who led the research.

And how do they explain the increase in obesity in white women, and Hispanic women, and white men and Hispanic men, and Klingons, etc.? How about the availability of fast foods that are high in calories, but are convenient for our busy lifestyles? How about people regardless of race that spend most of their time sedentary. (That's sitting on your a$$ most of the day, even if it is part of your job. And I resemble that, unfortunately. I do watch what I eat, so I'm not obese...just about 10 lbs overweight! )

So far as the study that white children throught blacks felt less pain is concerned, could it be what they are taught by their families? Naw! As the song in the movie, "South Pacific" said, "You've got to be carefully taught. To hate all the people your relatives hate, and people whose eyes are differently made. You've got to be carefully taught!"

Oh, and by-the-bye, if you oppose certain politics of certain people, you are racist! The possibility that those politics might be wrong has nothing to do with it! Of course! (Paul Harvey sigh...)

Put down the fork.

I was at a fast food choke and puke yesterday with my family.

We ate pretty sensibly. I even ate a kids meal because its smaller portion and I wasn't that hungry.

The rather large man behind me orders 3 super sized combos, sits down, and gobbles them all up.

Now, I ain't judging anyone, but for a lot of folks, it is an intake problem!

The daily stress of working to try and pay your bills and do what you would like to do is just one thing that helps keep weight down.

How ever if all you need to do to pay your bills and buy the things you want is wait for the government check to show up, the stress of daily life is missing.

Welcome to the world where only the white, protestant/catholic conservatives are to blame for anything that goes wrong. All other races/religions/life styles are completely blameless for anything.

Warning: very politically incorrect text following this warning.

I have been to every corner in the US and some in Europe and Asia. I live in an average-sized city in NC. Here are my observations about my area:

* Food that is comparatively bad is cheaper than healthier food

* Poorer areas have more fast food restaurants (because it is cheaper and that seems to be what people there patronize)

* Poorer areas tend to be populated by minorities

* A growing number of people want to find someone else responsible for their poor choices

* Food providers formulate their products to induce more eating and driving (added slats and carbs) in order to create more demand

There seems to be plenty of causes of this issue.

"Data suggests that chronic exposure to stress can result in dysregulation of important neuroendocrine functions, (interactions between the nervous and endocrine systems) which can influence the accumulation of excess body fat."

See? You have that just backwards. The stress of working, trying to balance all your bills, and still have a few bucks to buy a bag of chips or some such is what should lead to weight gain.
