Looking for a cool Bowie knife to add to the gun belt.

I'm wanting to add a really cool looking bowie to my gear. Big is fine, up to 8' blade probably. Really don't want any foreign blades but if they look good maybe. Really like stag/bone handled. Anybody have any suggestions?

Don't wear it on the back of your gun belt. One of the funniest thing I've seen at a match was with the shooter started seated (metal folding chair), at the beep stand and shoot pistols, move and shoot rifle, move and shoot shotgun..........all with the chair hung on his knife. :D

First thought was....Redwing, he is very SASS supportive and does some nice work. Unfortunately, he will not be at Winter Range. bb

You just missed the Wolverine Knife collectors show in Novi. It's always with the gun show. They always got lots to choose from. If you don't fine one, they'll have another show in the fall....Take Care...Faygo....PS ....congrats to you and KJ ........

You might consider Jantz Knife supply. They have blades made in USA and lots of options for handles and hardware, You can match your grips or your other accessories.

This one was done in Bocote to match my Berettas.

Check out Silver Stag. I carry a Pacific Bowie.Great handles and that is what you are looking for. I picked mine up at the NRA convention in St Louis for a substantially reduced price. They will be at the Indy convention if you are going there. Made in the USA.

I like them made from a Farrier's Rasp.

Think they look good. And boy will they hold a edge.

I have a few made from them.

My little one that goes in my cuffs has buffalo horn.

Have been thinking about sending one off to get it done with turquoise, white turquoise, and red corral.

Deuce, check out the Smoky Mountain Knife Works website. They have bowies of all sizes, a lot of them are at very good prices.

Well its your lucky day! After about 30 miniutes of thought I went right to it,and as an added bonus Noper will be glad to know that my once captive amishman even made a sheath that rides kinda crossdraw on the back of your belt. Its in the 8"ish range with antler handle off a deer he told me he had killed.

Howdy,

There is a maker that makes filet knives with great stag grips.

I know you said bowie style but if you fish the filet blade is something

you can use outside of SASS.

I don't have one myself but several friends have them and like them.

If a filet blade interests you let me know and I will find the contact info.

Smokey mountain has a bunch of bowies if that is your thing.

Best

I HIGHLY recommend Ross Tyser. http://www.rtcustomknives.com/

Click on his Knives link then his Bowie (top center)

There is also one in the Available Knives link

He's not cheap, but he's one of the best in the country as you will see by his accolades.

Peter Bromley. None finer. He's usually at EOT. Ask Palewolf

When I made my post mentioning Redwing I was trying to remember the fellow I have seen at so many EOTs...Bromely is the guy, wow, the excellent knifes he shows year after year. +1

...and he's usually short a couple by the end of the match.

Wow! I feel, like guns, you can't have to many knives. I have two Redwings and a Peter Bromley, and assorted others new and old, but PWB that is a fine collection! Really fine!

Thanks Mad Dog. ^_^

First couple are Bear Bone's, another fine custom knifemaker.

These are just the highlights of a lifetime of collecting quality cutlery.

Met Pete up at the Great Northern (Farragut, ID) many years ago...been a loyal & steady customer ever since.

Check ebay for a Sheffield bowie for something period correct and very cool looking. More of them were around in the late 1800s in the U.S. than any other knife and they still make them.
