Winchester brass

I bought 100 new Winchester 32 WCF cases. I've loaded the first 50 and have lost 8 to too thick bases. won't go into the shell holder on my Lee Turret or the Auto prime.

Is there a cure or do I send them to Lilly b Haven for her jewelry?

Also bought 100 Starline. I've loaded 75 of them with no losses.

I've had some Starline that wouldn't fit in the shell plate on my Dillon. I guess any brand can have lapses in QC. The thing was these were cases I'd reloaded several times on my rock chucker, so no way to tell from which batch of new brass they came from.

Never thought of sending them to Lily, that there is a good idear.

I used to give away my .38 Amerc brass because it will not fit the shellholder in my Dillon. But I seem to keep getting it back! I guess we play musical brass in the CAS game. So now I put it in my scrap jug to sell later.

I think Winchester must be farming out or something. I bought some new W-W 25-20 and was losing half of them due to neck splits before calling a halt. Had to anneal all of them and thats a first after 50 years of using WW brass

I also use a Lee press and dies to load .32WCF and .38WCF. I get twenty or more cycles on Starline with near zero loss. Winchester brass is good for 10 loadings or so until the brass starts to split, and I experience about 2% loss. Remington .32WCF brass is lucky to have a 80% survival and five loadings.

Measure your brass.

The over sized cases I chuck up in the drill press.

I then take a very fine file to the rim until it comes in to spec.

Be sure to bevel the base just a little.
