2A Tuesday In Maryland

Last year in Maryland, we had a tremendous turnouts for the hearings in Annapolis. Even though we lost that battle, we did manage to keep the laws that did pass from being a lot worse and, more importantly, we got the attention of the Maryland Legislature. The 2014 legislative session began on 01/08/14 and we are actively monitoring the laws that have been proposed to date. While the legislators indicate that there appears to be no real effort to push for additional anti-gun laws this years, we cannot let our guard down for one minute. These guys cannot be trusted.

To demonstrate our continuing commitment in support of the the 2A and gun rights, Maryland Shall Issue is spearheading a 2A Rally in Lawyers Mall in Annapolis on 02/04/14. Last year, we had over 4,000 people show up to testify against SB281 (which became FSA2013 when passed) and it basically shut down the buildings. Our goal is to at least match that number for the rally.

Well, we had a decent event in Annapolis. Somewhere between 500 - 700 folks showed up for the rally. Prior to the rally, folks wandered the halls of the Senate and House office buildings speaking with their representatives about gun laws in Maryland. After the rally, there were seminars on digital advocacy (Twitter & Facebook) for those of us who have managed to avoid most social media, as well as citizen advocacy (or how to effectively speak with legislators and testify).

I certainly wish we had gotten 4,000 to attend, but I will take the 700. Hopefully those that couldn't attend will be there on the gun bill hearing days. We have three scheduled so far this year, 14 Feb, 26 Feb, and 5 March.

GET OUT THERE AND GET NOTICED!
