H. K. Uriah, SASS #74619
As we all know, if you have a revolver chambered for .357 Magnum, you can run .38 Special in it. You could also run .38 Long Colt, or .38 Short Colt in those revolvers. Some rifles chambered for .357 Magnum get a little persnickity when you try to run .38 Specials in them. Some run the shorter round just fine. Trying to run the even shorter rounds would require modifying the gun in some way. Question: Has anyone ever tried running .38 Long Colts in a rifle chambered for .38 Special? I have a couple of old revolvers chambered in the Long Colt round, and am toying with the idea of getting a rifle to use with them. I know that getting a rifle in .38 Long Colt is not gonna happen, but there are lotsa guns out there in .38 special. I am assuming similar issue with running Specials in a Magnum, some will work, some won't, some will, but you gotta be careful how you do it. If anyone has tried, I'd like to hear from you. Branchwater Jack SASS #88854
You could add a stop to the carrier of your 73 to run the shorter round much like the big bore guys do to run the 45 cowboy rounds. I have not tried it, but in theory, it might work...
Randy Saint Eagle, SASS # 64903
A Marlin with a Widdermatic conversion will shoot them. I'm sure Cowboy Carty could do a short-stroke Marlin to feed them. Randy
