And they did not even have an OSH to keep them (or their ears) safe!

Rocket Science IS lot of science, but even today, rocket motors involve a bit of "art" - a lot of experience needed, and any minute change in materials can have very unexpected effects.

I'm surprised they didn't include footage of the Delta Clipper. Not very spectacular but impressive all the same.

Goodness gracious great balls of fire!

"Ladies and gentlemen, I'd like to welcome you to Stage1of the NASA astronaut selection process. If you are selected and complete your training, we are going to strap your butt to a rocket and shoot you into space. Please pay careful attention to theses scenes."

The ones who say "HOT DAMN, that looks like a fun ride" will continue on.

Some will be removed for negative reactions or other reasons some place along the line, some will quit and walk away. Some will puke, faint, or scream in terror in which case they will likely find work as leftist do-gooders or community organizers someplace in LA, NYC, Sacto, Chi-town, or some other namby-pamby paradise.

One of our pals, now deceased, Capt. Dan Roberts worked on the space program in the '60's and was a rocket scientist. Once the program started to wind down, he and a lot of other folks were let go. He went on to work in his father in law's plumbing supply business and eventually ran it until his passing last year. Great guy with lots of stories.
