Trigger Mike
Well water comes out cloudy then turns clear in glass after few seconds. Glass turns cloudy if water sits overnight. If from filtered refrigerator ice water leaves white film at water line overnight. If water from tap with Brita filter attached it comes into glass clear and if frozen does not leave white film at water line. Why?
Subdeacon Joe
Sounds like you have a lot of calcium in your water.
Diamond S Doug
Well water comes out cloudy then turns clear in glass after few seconds. air bubbles cause the cloudiness and when the air is gone the water is clear Glass turns cloudy if water sits overnight. hard water stains If from filtered refrigerator ice water leaves white film at water line overnight. hard water stains not as bad as above because it has been filtered some If water from tap with Brita filter attached it comes into glass clear and if frozen does not leave white film at water line. Trigger Mike
I just had it tested in March when I moved in and the county said it was fine. What am I looking for?
The Original Lumpy Gritz
Nitrates and bacteria are at the top of the list. Have an independent do the testing. Is this city or well water? LG
StirrupTrouble
Do you have a water softener? When we first has ours installed, it was a little cloudy whitish until they got the levels right
Marshal Mo Hare, SASS #45984
I got the feeling that the water test for the county/state only checked for toxins and harmful bacteria. They didn't much care about minerals and certainly did not check for radioactivity (radon).
Michigan Slim
All it was parbly checked for was the presence of Fecal Coliform. This shows contamination from, well, Feces. You can get a hardness test kit for home use. Chances are you have very hard water. Most of the country does. DSD gives a good answer to your questions. An independant lab can run the radon and metals testing for you but it may be a tad salty (no pun intended!). But it may give you piece of mind. The Brita filters are a good investment, BTW. For anybody, City or well water. Michigan Slim Trailboss of the Turd Herders (Wastewater Supervisor)
